The Science in Science Fiction

The Irish Astronomical Association will be running a lecture on Wednesday 21st of January on “The Science in Science Fiction” being delivered by Professor Francis Keenan of Queens University. The lecture will be in the Bell Lecture Theatre in the Physics Building Starting at 7:30pm. I recommend that people try to get there earlier to avoid trouble with the doors. There will be a short talk to the society before the main lecture

P.S. Appologies for the lateness of this news item. I was having a couple of issues with the behind the scenes software the site uses, but it’s all resolved now :)

First meeting of the new year

Hey guys,

First off all Happy New Year to you. Our first meeting of the new year will be taking place on Wednesday January 14th, starting at 6pm and ending at 10pm. Our schedule of events for January will be online shortly. Other than that, we hope to see you soon.

*Update*

Our schedule is now live. For those of you who don’t know, a choice night is where our members can bring along a new show, movie, anime, game or book. From all those options present one is chosen initially by a quick vote and then shown, discussed or played. Then time permitting (I only say this should someone bring something that is three or more hours long ;) ) the voting takes place again and so on until the end of the night. As quite a few of our members will be absent or leaving early during January due to exams and such, now is a good time to have one :)

Now with regards to Thursday January 29th…well you’ll find out about that soon </mysterious>
