News and Website update

Hey.

For those of you who weren’t able to make it tonight, that was the last meeting until January. Check back here, our LiveJournal or our Bebo page for updates on meetings. Our entertainments officer Captain Lucy has made a post in the forums about cinema outings over the holiday period. You can check this out here.

In website related news, in an attempt to stop spammers posting on our forums a new mod has been installed into them. This mod requires you to enter in two text strings while filling out the registration form. I apologies for any inconvenience this may cause, but I’m sure you will agree that filling out an extra field on the registration form is far preferable to getting links to cheap drugs every day :)

So all that remains is for myself and the rest of the committee to wish you a happy Christmas and a peaceful new year :)

Ahoy there.

Christmas is fast approaching and you may be thinking about gifts to get for your friends and family. Here is where we can help. This Saturday from 12pm till around 8pm we are having a book sale at the Slayers24 event. Entry to the Slayers event will cost £5, but that will allow you to enter all the gaming tournaments there for the entirety of the 24 hours :) At the book sale we shall be selling off (hopefully) a large portion of our huge library (over 600 books, assorted DVDs and VHS videos and a couple of audio books). The library contains some nice rare jems that you may not be able to find anywhere else for a very long time, so come early to avoid disappointment. The event will be taking place in the QUB Students Union in the Snack Bar on the second floor. We hope to see you there.

In other news, on Wednesday night we had our Christmas dinner. Great fun was had by all, and many pictures were taken. Within the next few days, expect a gallery to appear on site with pictures of the event :)

Christmas Dinner

Hi there.

This week we shall be having our Christmas dinner. Due to this, our regular meeting has been cancled for the week. For those of you who are going, our dinner this year is at Madison’s Hotel and Bar on Botanic Avenue. A group of us will be meeting up at the Students Union at 8.30pm and then heading round. For those of you who are unable to meet up with us at the SU don’t worry, our dinner is planned to start at 9pm so just head straight there :) The cost? £15 will get you in and fed. The menu is below.

As you may notice (or maybe have not yet) we now have a second banner in place. The software behind the website will randomise the banner each time you load the page. Special thanks to Andrew Gordon of the QUB Dragonslayers for the banner. BTW we are still looking for more!

Our regular meetings shall resume again on December 12th in the usual place. Hope to see you there before you shoot home for Christmas.
