October Schedule and other news.

Hey guys,

The final October schedule has now been posted on the site. You can view it on the “What’s On?” page. In other news, the Freshers Bazaar is on Wednesday and preparations are pretty much complete here. Our advertising has been designed and printed and is about to be put up in every free space you can find on campus.

All I’ve got left to say for the moment is, see you at the Bazaar :)

Proposed October Meetings Schedule

Hey guys,

As was promised at the meeting on Wednesday, a proposed October Meetings schedule has gone up on the forums and can be viewed here. Please give all the feedback you can on this so that it can be modified where needed before it goes live!

As the discussions will be occuring primarily on the forums, if you are having access issues please send an email to me as soon as possible in order to resolve them.

Weekly Meetings

Hey guys.

How has your summer been? This is just a quick update to say that we are back in the Students Union, in Club Rooms 3 and 4 from Wednesday September 17th 2008. We shall be releasing information on our freshers meeting shortly, so keep checking for more updates!

Summer Venue

Hey guys

Just wanted to tell all of you who weren’t there this week that from Wednesday 4th June until September (date to be confirmed) that our weekly meetings will be taking place in the MBC Building off the Lisburn Road. For those of you who don’t know where that is, walk down Elmwood Avenue (road to the left of the Students Union) to the very end and across the road is the MBC building. Signs will be present in the building to show you where to go.

For those of you not attending our meetings over the summer months, the entire committee wish you a very happy holiday!

A little reminder

Hey guys.

Just wanted to remind you all that this Wednesdays meeting will not be happening due to another group booking the room on us :( . However I’ve heard that several members are planning to meet up and head around to a bar, they are planning on meeting in the Students Union at around 7pm and hopefully heading to Bar Sub for a little pool. In the event of the bar there being closed they will probably head around to one of our usual places of drinking :)

The other thing I would like to remind you of is our AGM. This will be happening on Wednesday April 30th, with the official business most likely starting around 8pm. If you wish to stand for any of our committee positions (all of which are up for grabs) you can find information on them on the Committee page on this site. Please note that to be eligible to stand for a position you need to be a registered member of the society, and that four of the positions require you to be a QUB student. If you have any other business you would like to bring up please mention it to me in advance of the meeting ;)

Oh and I’ve just added new tags to all our old news posts. If for any reason you want to take a look at our past news items, it should now be easier for you to find the relevant item :)

AGM and next weeks meeting

Hey guys.

Just have a couple of updates for those of you who weren’t there on Wednesday. Next Wednesday (April 23rd) there will be no offical meeting, this is due to another group booking the room all day long before we managed to book our time (Grrr). I believe some people are planning on meeting up in a bar but at this time I don’t know any more details on that.

The following week (April 30th) we shall be having our AGM, where we shall be doing the necessary task of voting in the new committee. If you are interested in standing for any of the positions take a look at the committee details page for a description on each of the positions. If for any reason you are unable to attend, but are wanting to stand for a committee position drop me an e-mail (chairbeing@qubscifi.org.uk) with the position you want to stand for and a short statement saying what you would hope to do in the position.

Oh and if you have any business you would like to bring up at the AGM please e-mail me about it so I can put it into the meeting agenda.

Hope to see you there!

Meetings resuming

Hey.

This Wednesday (2nd April) our weekly meetings will be resuming. As always they start at 6.30pm and continue on to 10pm. The SU management wanted me to ensure that we are all out by 10pm at the latest, and as such all activities will be winding down at around 9.50pm.

That said, there are a couple of dates that you should mark down. On Wednesday 8th April our meeting will be starting an hour later than usual, due to another group having the room booked until then (grr ;) ) and on Wednesday 23rd there will be no meeting again due another group booking the room for the entire day (GRR ;) ). Don’t worry if you forget, there will be reminders before these dates.

Other than that, we all hope you had a great Easter and hope to see you this week :)

Easter Holidays

Hey guys, sorry about the short notice (blame it on an administrative screw-up).

Unfortunately there will be no meeting this week and next (26th) due to the Students Union being closed. We shall hopefully be starting back on April 2nd, however this is yet to be confirmed (due to the room booking policy of the Union). Check back here or our LiveJournal during the holidays for updates on this.

Sorry again about the short notice.

Site update

Hey guys.

I’ve done a little behind the scenes updating to the website, mostly to fix a few security flaws. Apart from these, the only other change was to add an anti-spam add-on which should help alleviate the e-mail spam the committee is getting, reduce the comment spam the site is getting (I get several comment validation requests a day from spammers ;) and the entire committee gets much much more spam to their inboxes ) and reduce the server load a small ammount.

Hopefully this will cause no problems for everyone who uses the site, but from the description of the plug-in it may in extreme circumstances block some legitimate users. So if you get an error message when browsing the site due to this (or any other reason) please contact me at this link.

Hope you are all doing well, and don’t forget to sign up to our forums :)
